Has anyone ever had Zoom whitening?
I am getting married in February and my bridal shower is in mid December. I want to do Zoom whitening to get my teeth looking their best. I have wanted to do it for a long time (ever since I had my braces removed) and I love the thought of having a very white smile, even though my teeth are not that yellow. However, I have sensitive teeth and currently use a whitening toothpaste which makes them even more sensitive. I am VERY sensitive to cold and things like sugar and the thought of having my teeth cleaned is worse than the thought of breaking an arm. So, I am a little scared. What was your experience like? Were your teeth very sensitive afterward? Did the process hurt at all? What results did you get? How long did they last? When is the best time for me to have them done so they look their brightest on my wedding day? I would really like to have them done before my wedding shower if possible, but not if it will make them less white at my wedding… Help!
I had the Zoom procedure done on Tuesday, it is now Saturday. I will say a few things about your situation.
If you are sensetive to cold, or hot or anything teeth related, Zoom MAY hurt very bad, I’ve read some horror stories. I am not sensitive, but it did hurt a bit for 1 day, and by day 2 the pain was gone…HOWEVER…My upper gums are now BLACK, but they are healing so I’m not too worried.
Now for the whitening. When I left the office and for 2 days after the procedure, I couldn’t stop smiling and staring at these new things in my mouth!
I was looking at a color of teeth that I had literally NEVER seen in my life so a little pain was worth it, and I even wrote a review on another site that said I “would be happy to have paid double”
With that, it is now 4 days after the treatment and yesterday it seemed like the whiteness was going away, but I have read that you get used to the new color so it just SEEMS less white.
Today I have been staring at my before and after photos and my current situation and I have come to a conclusion. My teeth are definitely a different color than they were before the procedure, but they are also definitely a different color than they were after!
As far as I am concerned, they are just less yellow, and for $500 I am not happy at all. For you, I would worry most about the possible pain, and keep in mind that you may have a lot or a little or none, it seems everyone is different.
As for the color, if you are not that yellow as you say, you may get great results and you do get a take home tray afterwards to “touch-up” so I can’t make a final decision until I get mine, but with my gums all messed up, I won’t be using it for a few weeks.
Overall, I wish you good luck and you may have great or terrible results, it is just going to depend on your luck, and if you are like me, which is to say that if something works for most people, it is a safe bet that it doesn’t EVER work for me. If you are the opposite of me, then go for it as the pain is not fun, nor is the procedure but as long as your teeth do not revert back to the original shade you will be happy after the pain is over.
Finally, do NOT get this done just before your shower or wedding, as you may very well end up with black/blue/white and sore gums!
P.S.
Be prepared to not eat ANY food or drink that is any color other than WHITE for at least 2 days, as the procedure apparently opens up the little “pores” in your teeth and eating mustard, or drinking wine directly after will for sure ruin your result!
Oh yea, and if you use a sonicare type toothbrush, DO NOT use it for a few days after the procedure or you will be sorry.
Take care, and Zoom at your own risk………I was so happy 3 days ago, and now I am back to my old self……..afraid to smile.
